Ernest Hemingway and his 57 cats.
An outstanding American writer was, it turns out, the no less famous “Catman”. His first pet was the legendary Snowball (Snowball) – a kitten presented to old Hem by his friend Captain Dexter. The snow was an unusual cat – six-fingered. Now in the writer’s house-museum on Key West Island in the US state of Florida, the descendants of the “founder of the dynasty” live, and 44 of them inherited six-fingeredness. Some even talk about a special breed of “Hemingway cats”, but this, of course, is not so – just cats received the polydactyly gene from their ancestor. In total, by the end of the life of the great writer, 57 cats lived in his house.
Terry Pratchett: It all started with the Catacombs.
“Okay, okay, I admit, I was misleading. Although this book clearly states that cats should be given short names that are not embarrassed to shout at night to the entire county. The Cat Without Fools is dedicated to the tailed Catacombe. What? There are nicknames and worse. ” This is a quote from perhaps the most famous book by Terry Pratchett “The Cat Without Fools,” which the writer really dedicated to his first cat, bearing such an unusual name. Yes, her name was Catacomb – the word Oedipus, which was the nickname for this pet, is translated into Russian. All in all, Sir Pratchett had as many as six cats. This is in reality, but how many are in the books … We suggest that you count them yourself :).
John Lennon, Jesus, Major, and Minor.
With Major and Minor, as it seems to us, everything is clear: what else should the cats of the musician be called for? As for Jesus, we have no assumptions regarding this name. But about another cat in Lennon’s life, there is: it is known that when John and Yoko Ono walked down the aisle, they were accompanied by two cats. Their names were Salt and Pepper. Actually, this, of course, is just “salt” and “pepper”, but for some reason one of the Beatles most famous albums is remembered … “Sergeant Pepper’s Club of the Lonely Hearts Club”, remember? In general, John loved cats from childhood and grew up in their environment. At first, it was a cat Elvis, who one day suddenly had kittens, then a Persian cat named Tim, who lived for 20 years.
Freddie Mercury and his muse.
The legendary Queen frontman adored cats and even dedicated songs to them. In total, he had six darlings: the musician bought tons of toys for them and brought from the tour a special cat food, which was not in England. The Tiffany cat and the Oscar cat brought the singer kittens with whom Freddie was worn, as with his own children. But the main cat of his life was Delilah: he loved to take her in his arms and stroke, and when he went to bed, she always slept at his feet. Mercury dedicated one of his songs to her.
Salvador Dali and Ocelot Babu.
As you know, Dali’s favorite “pet” was a giant anteater: an extravagant artist liked to appear in public, leading his exotic pet on a leash. However, no less than he loved to shock his contemporaries, going out in a fur coat with a leopard pattern and accompanied by ocelot Babu. In fact, Babu belonged to the manager of the famous artist John Peter Moore, but it was Dali who gave him this unusual kitten by buying it from a street beggar.
Andrew Lloyd Webber: Cats. Of course, Cats!
Of course, this story simply cannot do without mentioning the author of one of the most famous and performed musicals in history. Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote his “Cats” for a reason: his biographers often call the composer “a cat person”. In his apartment in South Kensington, there have always been many cats. An amazing story: two cats of Webbers were called Dmitry and Sergey – in honor of Shostakovich and Prokofiev, the family’s favorite composers. Andrew said that even in Oxford he got because of his sympathy for cats: during an oral interview, he managed to make friends with his examiner’s Siamese cat, and his heart just melted. Let’s remember right now, probably, the most famous aria of the legendary musical “Cats”!
Karl Lagerfeld, manager of his cat.
Cat Shuppet, owned by an outstanding designer, is called the most spoiled in the world. Kitty has three maids who keep an eye on her and write down every step of her in a diary. But that’s not all! The Lagerfeld cat has – you won’t believe it! – a personal plane and the designer calls himself the manager of his favorite, whose main task is to protect Schuppet from zealous fans: “Everyone wants her, but I say no! She is a real beauty. She has blue, blue, blue, blue, blue eyes. And her every move is so beautiful! ” Well, who but Lagerfeld knows a lot about the beautiful…
